Congratulations to the Wayne Carle Award winners!


“The Board of Education is pleased to have the Wayne Carle Award Recipients honored this evening and presented by the Student Engagement Office. Recipients were nominated by Jeffco staff, students, and community members. The Wayne Carle Awards are given to individuals for outstanding contributions to diversity and equity in Jeffco Public Schools. The awards are named for retired Jeffco Superintendent, Dr. Wayne Carle, and reflect Jeffco’s desire to promote cultural understanding and respect.

2019 Wayne Carle Legacy Award recipients:

Administrator: Samantha Hollman, Principal

For her unwavering dedication to Diversity and Equity. Sam has always supported and encouraged growth toward representation and inclusion at Mitchell Elementary.

Licensed Staff: Jessica Post, High School Teacher

Jessica Post’s passion for diversity and equality has manifested in several areas of our community. Ms. Post created a multicultural perspective class which allows students to learn about other cultures, social issues, and issues within the school that students try to resolve.

Educational Support Professional: Andrea Syko, Family Engagement Liaison

Striving to make the world more language inclusive, Andrea Syko was instrumental in making the Jefferson County Family Leadership Training Institute accessible to participants in both English and Spanish.

Student: Gabrielle Davis, High School Student

A champion for social justice and inclusion. Gabrielle Davis has become a dynamic and vocal leader of the Student Voice Leadership Committee. She shows up tirelessly and always brings innovative ideas to the Student Voice planning process.

Community Group: Jeffco Safe Schools Coalition, Community Group

Since 2017 Jeffco Safe Schools Coalition (JSSCo) works to foster safe and inclusive learning spaces by elevating the voices and experiences of LGBTQ+ youth, families and educators while acknowledging the many different identities within that community.”
