We shared the information with you about the Vouchers in DougCo and asked for folks far and wide to share the information. We even reached out to our friends in Thompson Valley.
Please note, it’s not just DougCo who’s trying to implement vouchers. Some of our Colorado legislators are trying to implement Tax Credits which will have the same impact on public education as vouchers. It’s another way to funnel public taxpayer dollars for private schools.
This is important! We need to take a stand and let folks know this is not acceptable!
Please note, Senate Bill 16-154 is being heard this Thursday, Mar. 24th by SENATE EDUCATION COMMITTEE 1:30 PM in SCR 356
We have been contacted by Senator Kerr, who opposes this bill, and is asking for individual parents’ testimony in opposition.
This would be a great opportunity for all of us who believe and support public education to step up. We are happy to assist you with writing your testimony if you are interested. There is a list of bills and other business on the Committee’s agenda, so it is possible SB 154 will not be heard until 3 or 3:30 pm.
Senate Bill 16-154 provides tax credits for parents who pay private school tuition and donors who fund private school scholarships. If you’d like to voice your opposition to this legislation, here’s a link to the legislators’ directory for the General Assembly.
Ready to testify? If you don’t know how and want help, contact us! Please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll be happy to walk you through the process so you can participate!
