Staff Appreciation 2017

There are so many little things (and big things too!) that our Jeffco Schools staff do to make a difference for our children.

From the minute we drop them off at school, there are times when our children need more than just educational support. There are crying kindergarteners every year at the beginning of school, sometimes throughout the year. There are teachers, paraprofessionals, school secretaries, principals, and volunteers who hug them, read to them, offer kindness, and provide emotional support in the toughest of times.

As they get older and go through changes, other supports are often needed. Our education professionals have saved countless lives and enrich the lives of so many, every day. Often, they provide support to entire families, so far beyond their work educating our students. Our educators step up every single time, every single day.

For our neediest children, our staff holds school supply drives, clothing drives, and food drives. They seek out counseling services, fundraising services, clothing, supplies, food, and other supports as families experience crisis.

Three years ago, a friend sent me the following picture. A teacher was caught stitching a student’s coat during her “lunch break.” These acts of kindness occur every day at every school in Jeffco.

Our Jeffco teachers and staff are known for their extreme dedication and advocacy for their students. What started as teacher appreciation has grown to staff appreciation in Jeffco, because we recognize that every person in the school is part of the team who serves our children.

At Support Jeffco Kids, we have teachers, principals, paras, school secretaries, kitchen managers, coaches, facility managers, PTA leaders, etc. all volunteering to make a difference for all Jeffco students. When we announce a clothing drive, food drive, school supply drive or any of our service events, these people all step up alongside parents and community members to make the effort successful.

During staff appreciation week, the events look different at each school. Most are organized by parents and the PTA, some are organized by a principal. The events differ depending on the resources and economic status of the community. However, the most important thing you can do is to show kindness and appreciation to your education staff.

At the very least, please write them a thank you note!

We don’t have the ability to show you just how much they do behind the scenes. They don’t talk about it, they don’t post on social media about it, and they don’t seek acknowledgement for it. Still, we continue to hear the stories every day.

Thank you to every member of the Jeffco Schools staff for all of your efforts! We are happy to Support Jeffco Kids with you and we are happy to support YOU and the incredible work you do in serving our kids!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! #JeffcoRocks because you Support Jeffco Kids!

Every child, every day!
