Become a Partner in Giving!

Our development team has launched a volunteer fundraising campaign called Partners in Giving. As you can imagine the number of participants greatly increases during the winter months. This is due largely to the change in weather and added cost of the holidays. In preparation to support the increase in participants, we are working to raise some additional funds to help us serve everyone who comes to us for help.

If you are interested helping us raise $25,000 just by you, our volunteers, please see attached flyer or contact Nadine at Nadinep@theactioncenterco.org

We also have Colorado Gives Day is next Tuesday, December 6th! You can schedule your gift now by visiting the website below. If you’d like to make your Partners in Giving donation on Colorado Gives Day, simply select “Volunteer Campaign” under Where Do You Want Your Donation Directed. Thanks for your support of The Action Center!

Kid-Friendly & At-Home Projects:

  1. “Even Santa Needs Help Sometimes” Toy Drive*:  Shop together as a family and let your kids pick out gifts for youth aged 12 and younger to donate to our Santa Shop, by Monday Dec 14th.  We really need Remote Control Cars, sports equipment, craft kits, and anything from Star Wars/Frozen/Minions for kids ages 9-12 AND toys for infant/toddlers. You can also set up a drive with your company, school; church group, etc. (Please do not wrap toys).  Our Santa Shop will provide holiday toys to more than 4,000 kids living in poverty this holiday season.
  2. Gather Up Your Gently Used Kids Clothing: Have your kids go through their closets and gather any clothing they have outgrown or no longer want to wear, and then bring the items to the Action Center.  Kid’s clothes just fly out of our clothing bank so we really need these donations.
  3. Warm and Cozy Clothing Drives: Recruit your scout group, sports team, classmates, church group or club to gather as many articles of warm clothing as possible.  Ask if you can get extra credit at school for your project.  Compete against other groups to see who can collect the most!   We distribute more than 15,000 articles of clothing from our Clothing Bank every single month and warm items are already flying off our shelves.
  4. Sweet Treats: Bake and decorate holiday cookies, Rice Crispy treats, or other holiday treats to donate to our homeless shelter.  Our shelter houses up to 25 people at one time, including individuals, couples and families with children.  Homeless families struggle deeply during the holidays and the simple touch of cookies can brighten their spirits and lift their hopes for a better future.
  5. Protein Power Food Drive*: Reach out to you community to gather as many canned proteins as possible.  Create unique home-made prizes or certificates for the folks who collect the most tuna, chicken, canned chili, and peanut butter.  During the cold winter months, protein is a key source of nutrients needed to stay warm.
  6. T-Shirt Bags: Recycle your old T-Shirts by transforming them into fabric bags.  We use T-Shirt bags in Clothing and Grocery so that folks who are walking or bussing have an easier time carrying their items home. Directions: Cut off the sleeves and cut out the collar. Sew across the bottom of the T-shirt to close it up. Viola!  If you are inspired, organize a drive for old T-Shirts and host a sewing party.
  7. Holiday Cards:  Create festive (non-denominational) holiday cards at home and then drop them off at the Action Center.  We will include them in our 5-Day Food supplies to our neighbors in need to lift them up during the difficult holiday season.
