Sarah will provide an introductory overview on the 10 best practices for mental health in schools. The School Mental Health Toolkit is a blueprint for school mental health services and serves as a guide for community members, schools, local leaders, and districts. Best practices are strategies for implementing, funding, and sustaining mental health services in schools; these services include mental health screenings, suicide prevention programs, and wellness plans (e.g., school social-emotional learning specialists or “SELS”).

Sarah led the development of this new School Mental Health Toolkit and is working to get the strategies in every school district in the state to support student (and faculty!) mental health. She wants to help make sure every student feels safe and supported in ways that go well beyond metal detectors and locked doors.

Please come to Sarah’s presentation to find out what you and JUC can do to promote mental health in our schools. There will be plenty of time for engagement, feedback, and conversation. You won’t want to miss this opportunity!
