On December 12, 2013, the Jeffco Schools Board of Education voted 3-2 to hire attorney Brad Miller as counsel to the board following the addition to the agenda item just two days prior to the meeting. Two members of the five member board indicated that they had not had an opportunity to participate in the discussion, to interview the attorney, or to have a discussion as to what the responsibilities of this new attorney might be. Many questioned whether the act was a violation of Sunshine Law.
