Jefferson County Public Library Summer Reading Contest – Win $800 for Your School!
“Summer reading makes your summer fun! You can go everywhere in the whole, wide world without ever leaving your house,” said Katie Wheeler, digital teacher librarian from Addenbrooke Classical Academy. “Summer reading helps students maintain the reading level they achieved during the school year so they’re ready for the next grade. And it’s just plain fun! The Summer Reading Program builds kids, it builds libraries, and it builds our future – one page at a time.”
The contest is open to Jefferson County Public Schools only. Schools can win $800 to support a literacy-based program or activity, thanks to support from the Jefferson County Library Foundation. Awards will be given to schools in five categories with the highest percentage of finishers. Read at least eight hours and help your school win.
Only summer readers between the ages of four and 18 can participate. Sorry parents and teachers – this one’s for the students. You can cheer them on!
Register online or at the library June 1 – July 31. Read. Log minutes. Win prizes! That’s it! Easy peasy! You’ll be working towards your personal goal, and helping build a better community. Readers can pick up a prize when they register, another when they’re halfway there, and a final prize when they reach their goal.
