The Jeffco community continues to be a leader in serving the children in our community. Great things happen because we come together to make a difference! SJK is noted on the list from Serving Kids below because of your support.
We’ll continue to do these service projects because they truly allow us to Support Jeffco Kids. For the time being, we’d ask that as you go through seasonal clothing and your kids (or even the adults in the family) outgrow something, save it for our next clothing drive! Yes, it’s easy to drop them in a bin somewhere where an organization resells the clothing but Support Jeffco Kids and Serving Kids is run completely by unpaid volunteers who work to take care of our neediest in Jeffco and the families are charged nothing for this very important service.
Between July 1, 2016 and December 31, 2016, SERVING KIDS provided 18,325 articles of clothing to 951 students in Jeffco schools and programs.
To accomplish this task, thirty-six SK volunteers donated 1,105 hours of their time filling clothing requests sent from schools, combing thrift shops and sale racks to find needed items, and delivering the completed clothing orders to the correct site. The number of volunteer hours is probably much larger since many volunteers do not write down all of the hours they work.
However, without steady support from individuals, schools, and other groups there would be no coats, jeans, gloves or shoes with which to fill an order so we wish to express our sincere appreciation for their thoughtfulness and generosity. Clothing drives, cash donations, and various other forms of support by the following groups kept our shelves filled or provided funds for shopping when the shelf was empty.
