Jeffco Educator friends, we need an awesome high school teacher ASAP for this!
CDE is hosting a summit on graduation policies related to students with IEPs, a collaborative effort with the Consortium of Directors of Special Education (Consortium), Colorado Association of School Boards (CASB), Colorado Association of School Executives (CASE), the Colorado BOCES Association, and the Colorado Rural Schools Alliance. We are seeking a general education high school teacher to participate in the summit.
The summit originated in response to questions about the interplay between IDEA/ECEA, Colorado’s graduation guidelines, graduation rate calculations for ESSA for students following the alternate achievement standards, and the recent passage of HB 19-1066. We are bringing together stakeholders to learn about these different policies and how they interplay so we can identify implementation issues and generate possible solutions. Specifically, the purpose of the summit is to:
· identify issues and questions related to graduation of students with IEPs
· distinguish between communication issues and policy issues
· generate solutions to problems the group identifies
The summit is scheduled for Monday, September 23 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the CASB offices located at 2253 S Oneida St, Denver, 80224. Lunch, substitute costs, and travel reimbursements will be provided. If you need overnight accommodations due to the distance you need to travel, please let me know.
If you are interested in participating, please contact Melissa Colsman at firstname.lastname@example.org by Wednesday, August 28.
Thank you for considering this request.
