Have you really been trying, Dan?

Have you really been trying, Dan?

Supporting Novitas, the Independence Institute, The Colorado Observer, and Education Reform Bulletin while opposing and calling teachers with JCEA and CEA disruptive outside forces does not equal ending political gamesmanship or focusing on our kids. This isn’t your best example of trying, Dan.

Read the following email to and from Superintendent Dan McMinimee. Then email him yourself and ask him how he’s been trying all year! Note the  quote in his letter below, the recent hires, and don’t forget about this –

Teachers talking to teachers equals “disruptive outside forces.”

Don’t forget the TWO political communications staff hires.

Mr. McMinimee,

Thanks for your timely response.  I certainly applaud any and all efforts to keep politics out of education.  Yet, at each turn, your actions appear to counter your words.   Ms. Pinto’s credentials showed that she was not qualified for the Chief Communications Officer position. Many questioned her hiring was based on her political background and affiliations. Based on the topic of my initial correspondence, her performance wasn’t up to par for what we should expect for a CCO either.  Fool me once, shame on you.

However, with the hiring of Devan Crean as the new Marketing and Communications Specialist, a pattern emerges related to political background and affiliation.  While she may be eminently qualified for the position, her associations with Novitas, the Independence Institute, The Colorado Observer, and Education Reform Bulletin, all with very explicit political ideologies similar to Ms. Pinto point to different motives.  It suggests either a complete misunderstanding about the state of discourse here in Jeffco at best, and a blatant disregard for them at worst.   Fool me twice, shame on me.  Yet, I’m not fooled.   Mr. McMinimee, perceptions are critical to the overall dialog with parents who are very concerned about the direction we’re going.  Unfortunately this hire doesn’t help provide you any credibility that you wish to change public opinion about focusing on the best interest of kids.  That’s unfortunate.  Our kids deserve better.
