At the special meeting of the Board of Education today, May 1st, 2017, our Jeffco School Board voted unanimously on perhaps the most important decision they will make while in office. Dr. Glass was selected as the finalist for Superintendent of Jeffco Public Schools.
A few important notes on this process based upon the discussion held by our Board Members as well as previous reports in Board Meetings given by Ray and Associates – 825 contacts were made by Ray and Associates in 46 states. Those contacts resulted in 69 applications with 11 candidates from 9 states recommended for consideration to the Board of Education for the superintendent position. Six Candidates interviewed from 6 different states (only one from Colorado), 5 have been or are currently superintendents, and the sixth is an assistant superintendent.
All of the Board Members as well as Ray and Associates reported that all candidates were excellent and were well-qualified to be the next Superintendent of Jeffco Schools.
One candidate rose above the others with the qualities requested by the community: Amazing leader, communicator, and strong experience as an educator. That was Dr. Jason Glass.
If you haven’t had the chance to read some of his articles we’ve shared previously, check out a few here:
We have been delighted to share his words previously as we appreciate his incredible advocacy for public education, the students he serves, as well as the staff he serves. It is quite incredible to see a leader of this caliber.
Now, to be fair, the contract details have to be worked out and we still need his signature and the final board vote on May 16th. Until that time, he’s our finalist. We do recommend that you send a thank you letter to our Board for their tremendous efforts in this area. We’ve stated previously, it’s not easy to be a volunteer Board Member and we know this decision weighed on them. Write them here: email@example.com.

Board Announces Finalist for Superintendent
Golden, CO, May 1, 2017 – The Jeffco Public Schools Board of Education has selected a finalist for the superintendent position. Dr. Jason Glass, current superintendent for Eagle County Schools in Colorado, was selected as the sole finalist at a special meeting the evening of May 1.
“The Board was incredibly impressed with Dr. Glass,” said Board President Ron Mitchell. “His credentials are impressive. He is a current superintendent, and he clearly meets the criteria we set using public input.”
The search firm, Ray and Associates, conducted a national search for the position resulting in 69 applicants. Community meetings and an on-line survey helped the firm and Board of Education craft a profile for the position. Eleven applicants that met the job qualifications and profile were presented to Board members; they chose to interview six. Applicant information was kept confidential to foster the deepest, most qualified pool of candidates possible.
“Because Dr. Glass rose to the top of an excellent group of candidates under consideration, we chose to name one finalist,” explained President Mitchell. “The goal was to find the very best superintendent for Jeffco, and we believe we have accomplished exactly that.”
Glass has a doctorate in education, led the Department of Education in Iowa, and served five years in the Colorado Department of Education. His résumé and photo will be available on www.jeffcopublicschools.org on Tuesday, May 2.
“I am honored and excited to be considered for the position of Superintendent of Jeffco Public Schools. I am genuinely humbled to be selected as the finalist,” said Dr. Glass.
The Board will take action on the appointment of the next superintendent for Jeffco Public Schools, and approve a contract for the superintendent, at a public meeting May 16.
Finally, we just want to ensure that Dr. Glass has support in his new role. It is up to us to support him in his efforts, offer collaboration, and we all need to share the facts about our beloved Jeffco Schools. We still have a tremendous amount of work to do in Jeffco due to the failure of 3A and 3B, statewide funding issues, federal education issues, and not having made a significant investment in our school district for 12 years.
