We are so fortunate in Jeffco to have such passionate staff. So many continue to support our kids and schools even after retirement. They are one of our greatest assets!
We are so grateful to JCRSEA (Jefferson County Retired School Employees Association) for sharing information about their two scholarship recipients for 2016.
Each student received a check for $2,500!
Riley Koch attended Golden HS. He will attend Red Rocks Community College in the fall. He wants to become a Special Education teacher.
Garrett Storm attended Green Mountain HS. He will attend the University of Colorado at Denver while beginning a combined 8-year undergraduate/medical school program. His undergraduate degree will likely be in biology and then he plans to get a doctorate in medicine.

Here’s the official Press Release:
2016 Recipients of Jeffco Retired School Employees Scholarships
Jefferson County Retired School Employees Association (JCRSEA) developed a scholarship program in 2007 to assist Jeffco graduates who are planning to pursue a college career. Each spring seniors in Jeffco may apply for these scholarships by submitting an application through the Jeffco Schools Foundation. Since 2007 JCRSEA members have donated $31,000 to our scholarship program.
This is a one-time scholarship that recognizes and rewards well-rounded graduating seniors from any Jeffco public high school with a required GPA of 3.0, unweighted. Students must demonstrate perseverance, responsibility, integrity, enthusiasm and inquisitiveness. Extra consideration is given to students who demonstrate financial need.
In 2012 an anonymous donor, in memory of his mother who was a Jeffco teacher, set up a trust fund through the Jeffco Schools Foundation to help support our JCRSEA scholarships.
All students applying for a Community Scholarship use the same application form and must include:
1. Employment History
2. Academic, Leadership and Volunteer Achievement
3. Statement of Financial Need

5. Official Transcript
6. Letters of Recommendation
Two letters from school staff or community members, to include likelihood for future success, character, etc.
